Paula Boshouwers studied law at the University of Amsterdam (1995), and the University of Copenhagen (2000). Paula worked as a lawyer at Van Doorne in Amsterdam until 2012, where she handled cases in various fields of law (company law, labour law, and public law).
Paula has a great deal of experience in mediating disputes in and around the workplace (such as re-integration, conflicts between colleagues, within teams, between management and workers councils and/or trade unions). Paula also focuses on start-up counselling, conflicts between cooperating professionals (medics, paramedics, lawyers, tax consultants, accountants etc.), conflicts within business partnerships and conflicts within and with government institutions. Paula has experience in handling disputes in the field of education, the semi-public sector, the healthcare and welfare sector, the pharmaceutical industry, the legal profession, professional services, the construction sector (including building permits) and the financial sector.
Paula regularly takes on the roll of process supervisor, for example at team sessions. Paula also investigates trust issues within teams or organisations and advises on the measures to be taken.
Paula lectures and publishes on mediation. For example, she is a skills trainer associated with Beroepsopleiding voor Advocaten (English: Professional Training for Lawyers). Paula is co-author of the books Mediation in Arbeidsconflicten (English: Mediation in Labour Disputes) and Rechtspraak Mediation (English: Mediation Case Law), and she is the editorial secretary of the Dutch professional journal Tijdschrift Nederlandse Mediation (English: Dutch Mediation Journal).
