ReulingSchutte continues its expansion with the addition of three new mediators
As of January 1, 2023, Tjarda Pieters, Leon Hoornweg, and Eliane Dosker will join the firm to strengthen its mediation practice due to its growing demand. Business mediation and facilitated negotiation are increasingly being considered as alternatives to pursuing litigation.
With the arrival of the three new mediators, ReulingSchutte will now have a total of 18 mediators.
Eva Knipschild, one of the partners at the firm, expressed her satisfaction with the new additions, stating, “We are very pleased with the arrival of Tjarda, Leon, and Eliane. They have diverse backgrounds and complement our existing team excellently.”
Tjarda Pieters, previously a judge with extensive experience, has been serving as a councilor at the Court of Appeal in Amsterdam since 2020. She specializes in labor law. At ReulingSchutte, Tjarda will primarily focus on mediation, arbitrations, binding advice, and conducting confidential investigations.
Leon Hoornweg brings years of experience as a business mediator and previously held managerial positions overseeing mediators and trainers. He handles mediations in employment, group, and collaboration disputes and is also involved in disputes related to commercial contracts.
Eliane Dosker has a broad background in various forms of conflict resolution, stemming from her experience in law practice, business, and the judiciary. She conducts mediations and provides process guidance within the corporate sector, business services, and the nonprofit sector.
Tjarda mentioned that as a judge, the privilege of making final decisions often comes when conflicts have already escalated significantly. As a mediator, she becomes involved at an earlier stage and in a more equitable manner, exploring different solutions. She finds the combination of both roles beautiful, as they require different skills but share a common interest in understanding what drives people and helping resolve conflicts.
Leon believes that in (potential) conflict situations, people often feel that they are not truly understood, leading them to become stuck. The appeal of mediation for him lies in taking constructive steps together with the parties involved to achieve sustainable solutions, even in situations where they may think it’s no longer possible. He sees the commitment to doing this at the highest level in his colleagues at ReulingSchutte.
Eliane emphasizes that behind every conflict, regardless of its business nature, lie interests and human values. Her approach focuses on bringing these aspects to the surface and guiding parties to engage in conversations based on them. She looks forward to joining forces with the professional and experienced colleagues at ReulingSchutte to help parties find the most suitable solutions for their conflicts.
