Nelleke van Thiel-Wortmann (1976) studied law at the University of Amsterdam. She started her career as a lawyer in Amsterdam. Subsequently she worked as a creative in the advertising industry and after that as a legal policy adviser – responsible for influencing procurement legislation (European and national) and negotiating contractual terms with (government) clients and chain partners.
Nelleke has worked as a full-time business mediator since 2016. She focusses on commercial conflicts and issues in collaborations in a broad sense, such as companies, partnerships and foundations. She has a great deal of experience with corporate issues and matters pertaining to commercial contracts – also in case of insolvency. She guides mediations within companies/organisations (employment, employee participation, partners, shareholders, executive and non-executive boards, investors) as well as between companies/organisations (suppliers, contractors, creditors, etc.). She is listed at several courts, including the Enterprise Division of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal. She mediates in English and in Dutch, and she has vast experience with mediations with multiple different nationalities.
Nelleke is co-author of the Cahier Zakelijke Mediation (publisher Ars Aequi, a book about Business Mediation). Nelleke is board member of the foundation for mediation in case of insolvency (SIM), and member of the Platform Business Mediation (PBM), the Association of Dutch Mediators (NMv) and the Association Rimari.
I take the lead without taking over. I do that decisively and energetically where possible, and with patience where needed. Lawyers and other advisers are welcome, both actively at my table as well as thinking along in the background.
